We know of about 150 globular clusters, ie clusters of old stars that orbit in our galaxy, the Milky Way. This sharp new image of Messier 107, taken with the Wide Field Imager camera at the ESO 2.2-meter telescope at La Silla in Chile, shows the breakdown of one of these globular clusters. The study of these stellar swarms revealed much about the history and evolution of our galaxy of stars.
